Advanced teams will need to get all mandatory checkpoints and as many bonus checkpoints as possible in 26 hours for a chance to take home the first place prize worth $2,500. To complete the 100+-mile course, teams will need to use their skills in route planning, race strategies, road biking, mountain biking, trail running, and canoeing to tackle the beautiful terrain and other obstacles offered up by the Georage Washington National Forest and surrounding area. This will be an adventure of a lifetime.

Luray Triathlon

8/18: Luray International Triathlon 8/19: Luray Sprint Triathlon - 8 am - Lake Arrowhead Park, Luray

Set in the picturesque foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near the beautiful town of Luray, Virginia, this region offers the Luray International race on Saturday, August 18th and the Luray Sprint on Sunday, August 19th in 2012 with a special hand-engraved goblet for individual athletes who complete the Luray Double.
Both races take place at Lake Arrowhead Park, a 134-acre recreation area located 4 miles outside the Luray town limits. Built in the early 1970s, the park has a 34-acre lake with fishing, boating, and a white sand beach for swimming. 2 miles of hiking trails take visitors through wooded areas with one trail that circles the entire lake. 6 picnic shelters, playground areas, and handicapped accessible restrooms help make Lake Arrowhead an ideal place for a triathlon!
